I always want to dress up for Halloween but there's never a reason for me to. I've been fixing up a spare room in my house for a long time and finished with it the other day to do a fun Halloween photoshoot. The lighting is pretty decent compared to the rest of my house and I was able to use natural lighting in all of these shots. I'm sure the more I shoot in there, the better I'll know how to use it. I'm really excited about it.
For the first look, I recreated offset lips like in the Comme des Garçons Fall 2004 show. Pat McGrath also did the same makeup for an editorial in i-D June 2004. I thought I'd pair my version with my only Comme des Garçons piece, a white leather jacket.
The angel look is actually my aunt's costume when she was a kid. My mom and I found it while cleaning the spare room. She had me try it on and it fit. The wings remind me of the sleeves on a few pieces in Margiela's flat garment series. It's pretty weird.
The last look is inspired by a lot of things: the top taped together of white roses from Margiela Spring 2006 Ready to Wear, the bloody pieces at Dior Spring 2006 Haute Couture, the eye makeup at John Galliano Spring 2010 Ready to Wear, and the show Dexter, specifically Dexter's kill rooms. Oh, and I wore tights over shoes (thrifted Pleaser heels), also inspired by Margiela. Very fun. The roses were tough to find, especially ones that grow very full like in the show, but I think these ones worked out.
