RED LIGHT, GREEN LIGHT

It was my 20th birthday on the 25th. My mom bought me some beauty items and we went thrifting and found swimsuits and furs. Cake, ice cream, fun simple stuff! This is almost exactly what I wore and I liked it so much I recreated and shot in it. It reminds me of Marc Jacobs Spring 2013 Ready to Wear. The top was found in the vest section at a thrift store for $8. I couldn't resist putting my hands all over the sequins. I'm actually not sure if it's a vest or top since it zips up the front. It's also a little big and has wool underneath so I sweat my ass off while wearing it but I love it.

I've obviously been playing with lighting a lot. I used two different bulb colors (green and red) and everything else is natural light. I don't have anything fancy, one of the lights is an old reptile terrarium light that has a clamp, haha. I think I got a little carried away but I'm still learning anyway so why not?

BLACK LIGHT GLOW | AMERICAN APPAREL IN NEON RED

American Apparel in Neon Red is one of the most intense nail polish shades I own. It's a neon popsicle red/coral. My mom wore it first a few weeks ago and I had no idea it was that bright. She received a lot of comments about it! These photos don't even show the true amount of intensity, like it burns my eyes to look at it and it can probably be seen from a mile away. I discovered a few days in of wearing it that it looks incredible under black light as well.

The formula is somewhat different than the usual one from American Apparel as it requires more coats (I used three) and has a semi-matte finish (I used a top coat.) It's still an amazing formula and I took these photos after about a week of wear.

DAISIES

All of these except the last one are ~mirror selfies~ and I'm surprised at how much fun I had snapping away at my legs and feet. All I wanted were some toe closeups but I set up my silver poster boards and a stool in front of a mirror and liked how everything looked. I even like my prickly legs which add a little texture, haha. It's like grain in real life.

The shoes are from a thrift store a few months ago but I've started wearing them all the time now. They're by the brand Sixty Seven and I think they were $3-4. I actually thought they were goofy at first but I was shocked at how cute they were on.

WHEN THERE'S NO MORE ROOM IN HELL, THE DEAD WILL WALK THE EARTH

How badass is this dead mall? It's kind of freaky walking around seeing hardly any life (many of the plants are real, though) and it feels like I'm in Dawn of the Dead. There are a few running businesses and department stores but it's mostly just shells of places that are long gone now, like Afterthoughts was a store similar to Claire's/Icing and the place with the mirror stations used to be MasterCuts. I've been through most of the mall but there are still areas I need to explore.

ALL ABOUT ORANGE | MAC LIPSTICK IN TANGERINE DREAM

MAC's Tangerine Dream lipstick from their All About Orange collection is a shiny, semi-opaque tangerine color. It's nearly macaroni orange and far more yellow than my other orange lip products. Many of the lipsticks in the All About Orange collection are actually too pink or coral, but I was pleasantly surprised to see this color among them. The formula is wonderful and much more comfortable than my other MAC lipstick, Lady Danger, but that one's matte and this one has a lustre finish. It's not completely opaque but it stays even after several hours of wear. I really like it!

DOTS

Ah, nails inspired by Yayoi Kusama! I've decided I need to make better use of my nails since they're so long now and attempt to paint more intricate designs. I usually paint my nails anywhere from 12 to 3 am but I think I should also start painting during the day. Sometimes I stay up a little longer than I should without letting everything dry and it doesn't look so cute when I wake up with the extra texture from bed sheets. I painted these while re-watching The X-Files (I'm not sure if that was a good or bad idea, I feel like I have to watch it all now.) It was fun, especially the dotting, but this was just a small start.

TERROR EYES

My current go-to look. It's all about the eyes. The main inspiration was makeup in giallo movies, specifically Death Laid an Egg. It's not that great movie-wise compared to others but I liked one character's eye makeup and created my own version of it. I always enjoy the closeup shots of eyes and looks of terror that are common throughout giallo movies. So dramatic, yet so cheesy and fake. Plus, I can see the makeup closer up!
