CAKE-ON MAKE-UP

Look! I learned how to wear color, contour my face, and use blush all at the same time! I feel just like everyone else now! Okay, I'm only half-way kidding. I was actually inspired by the makeup in Fellini's Satyricon. The movie overall is a gaudy, colorful visual fest but I especially loved the heavily applied blush and eerie pastel colors caked onto character's faces. I was also inspired by this painting, although the colors look more vivid and green-ish than the other photos I've seen of it so it might be edited.

For my look, I wanted it to look like caked on makeup with pores and hair being accentuated and for only my face to have color, so it'd look like makeup and not a crappy attempt at coloring my face to look realistic. Plus, I can't be assed to paint my body again. Or edit it. Speaking of editing, I did edit a bit of color around my hairline and some areas I had to keep touching to get hair out of my face. Other than that, it's makeup. I think it could've been cakier and messier but I wanted to play with contouring and blush since I've only done so a few times before, not including chrome blush. I think it looks pretty good for one of my first attempts. I'll continue being a contour and blush hater in my own daily looks though. But for shoots? Definitely a possibility for future looks.

The gold shirt was thrifted years ago and I've tried to get the nasty smell of cigarettes out once every few months but it's still stuck in the freaking football player sized shoulder pads. Sigh. The sequin jacket was thrifted a few weeks ago. I think it was around $8? It's really ugly but I like it for some reason. It's probably the sequins that save it. I have no idea what images the beads are supposed make up, maybe they're just some random design, but they kind of look like vomit and creep me out. I love the white sequin lapels, which aren't the most visible here (oops.) The pants are polyurethane (not leather *gasp*) and were thrifted for only $3.50 after 50% off. A nice, basic addition to my closet.
